PARENT/CHILD
SWIM LESSONS Ages 6-36 months
Children under the age of
3 must be accompanied by a parent(s) or
adult at all times for the safety and
comfort of the child. These classes
stress safety, pre-learning activities,
development of confidence and fun.
PERCH
Ages 24 mos-3 yrs
Parent must accompany child at all
times. Children are already adapted to
the water. Class is designed as an
introduction to the Pike/Eel classes.
PIKE
Ages 3-5 yrs
Beginners with little or no swimming
ability.
EEL
Ages 3-5 yrs
Students must be able to independently
put face in the water, float on back,
float on front w/assistance and swim 5
feet.
RAY/STARFISH
Ages 3-5 yrs
Students must be able to swim 15 feet
independently, jump into the water
without help and tread water for 10
seconds.
PROGRESSIVE
LESSONS
Ages 6-12 yrs
Children are placed according to present
ability in one of the following skill
levels:
POLLIWOG
- Beginner
Designed for the
non-swimmer, this class introduces basic
swimming and safety skills.
GUPPY -
Independent
Rotary breathing and
front crawl are the main focus.
Children should swim at least 20 feet
without assistance before entering this
level.
MINNOW - Intermediate
I
Introduces the butterfly and breast
stroke and stresses increased endurance
and refinement of the front crawl.
Students should be able to swim 20 yards
with rotary breathing before entering
this level.
