2008 YMCA TEENS

Middle and High School Programs

Sponsored by:

  LEADERS CLUB Ages 12-17
The Teen Leaders Club enables young people to learn that they can make a positive difference in the lives of others.

The program involves social time with other teens, service projects, and development of employment skills, special event field trips and many other fun activities.

It also focuses on issues such as volunteerism, group dynamics, conflict resolution, personal growth, leadership skills and the YMCA character development values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and faith.

Bring a friend and join us for leadership, fellowship and fun! Meetings are every Friday in the YMCA Administration Office, located in the Royal Palm Shopping Center (Suite 42). There is a $35.00 annual fee for YMCA members and a $50 annual fee for non-members. Registration forms and informational packets are available at the Y Front Desk.

There is also an opportunity to travel to Black Mountain, North Carolina, to attend Blue Ridge Leaders School in June.

For more information, including meeting day and time, please contact Lisa at 239-275-9622 or email leadersclub@leecountyymca.org.

Financial Assistance is available.

HIGH SCHOOL AND MIDDLE SCHOOL YOUTH IN GOVERNMENT

Learn democracy first hand by assuming the roles of senators, representatives, lawyers, judges, lobbyists and even the press. Students will guide themselves and their ideas through the model government process. The program offers a healthy dose of leadership development and YMCA core values (caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility). The experience will provide invaluable skills, awesome stories, and plenty of new friends. The process culminates with a 3-day conference that brings together all the clubs from across the state (approximately 700 students).

Call Lisa at 275-9622 for more information.

*Note: This program meets the Sunshine State Civics Standards
